1. Ethos-Pathos-Logos Planner
- TOPIC: State your persuasive topic in one sentence. What attitude or behavior change are you arguing for?
- ETHOS — Credibility Why should this audience trust YOU on this topic? List your personal experience, research, or expertise. How will you introduce your credibility in the introduction without bragging?
- PATHOS — Emotional Appeal What emotion do you want the audience to feel, and when? (Concern? Hope? Urgency? Pride?) List one story or vivid example that creates that emotion. How will you connect the issue to something the audience already cares about?
- LOGOS — Logical Evidence Main Point 1 claim: ___ Evidence: (cite your source type — statistic, example, expert testimony, or narrative) Main Point 2 claim: ___ Evidence: (cite your source type) Main Point 3 claim: ___ Evidence: (cite your source type)
- CALL TO ACTION What specific, realistic action do you want the audience to take after your speech? Is it achievable? Is it relevant to the claim? Write it as one clear sentence.
- REFUTATION (optional) Identify the strongest counterargument to your position. How will you acknowledge and respond to it without undermining your own claim?
